Portrait of Ort: Ort sits on his brown pillow in front of the fire, his tail is wrapped around his feet. He sits tall and stares straight ahead. All we see of him is his back. The edges of Ort’s fur are highlighted by the flame—so much so that he and the fire blend together. Ort is shadow and smoke. He is in front of the fire, he is on fire, he is of the fire. Inspired by this dream: He could never get warm enough. The cold was always there. The house burns down around him, and he smiles, content. At last, the cold is gone. He is so warm. So very warm. I hear a rumble over the fire's roar. He is purring. The heat touches me, and I scream.
